This is a forest school session for 0-4 year olds to attend with parents, run by Forest School leader Helen.
Sessions take place during term time: every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 945-1115am. You can book a half term course or individual sessions if spaces allow.
Meet in the woods by Toy's Hill car park, or Hosey Common car park.
Wear warm clothes, waterproofs, wellies, and bring an open mind, a snack to share and a cup!
All activities are child-led and therefore appropriate for all ages. As parents, we are spectators who support our children when they need our help.
A Typical SessionWe meet at Toys Hill, in the woods by the car park, and play there for a while then sing a welcome song. We wander up to the kindergarten base camp exploring along the way. At base camp, we enjoy a snack around the log circle, then it's time to explore. Children enjoy exploring the rope swing, dens, tree climbing, building, bug hunting, painting with mud, den building or mud face painting! Sometimes there will be an activity or craft idea, but the session flows according to children's interests. As the session draws to a close, we gather around the fire circle for some singing or a story.
On very cold days there is a pop up tent for those wishing to shelter from the elements and stories for us to share in there.
What to wearA warm and dry child is a happy child. We recommend:
- long sleeves and trousers
- thermal longsleeved top and 1-2 fleeces
- waterproof rainsuit or waterproof jacket and trousers
- mittens, hat
- wellies, snowboots, or waterproof booties for tinies - even babies from 6 months can benefit!
